The Gospel for Apologia Church
The Apologia Church teaches a message that sounds so similar to Christianity, but is fundamentally a different Gospel that cannot save.
The Apologia Church has taken upon itself the need to confront members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and tell them that the doctrines of the Restoration do not "correspond" to the teachings of the bible. The tactics the Apologia Church takes is by confronting members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at LDS gathering places. They then pretend to be their friend to open a dialogue with the member of the Church and then proceed to practice as the apostle Paul taught and warned "cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive" (Ephesians 4:14).
The entertainment that members of Apologia Church get from this is by secretly recording the conversation they have with members of the Church who are not expecting the encounter and are not prepared to address the doctrinal questions that are posed. The interviewer who is prepared then comes off superior and witty at the embarrassment of the unsuspecting Latter-day Saint. Apologia Church then posts the video on YouTube for anyone to view.
All Latter-day Saint theology is substantiated by the bible. The theology of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the theology of the bible. For anyone to declare otherwise as Apologia Church does is practicing "cunning craftiness" and are "deceivers" before God and man.
Members of Apologia Church take a smug stance that they know the bible and are correct in their view. However, they don't use the whole bible they only use certain verses and then formulate an argument based on that particular verse. To formulate the argument to "deceive" members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints they have to do what the apostle Paul taught change "the truth of God into a lie" (Romans 1:25). This is the only way for Apologia Church to be correct in their argument. That is expected though coming from false priests who are not ordained by God or recognized by God to minister His Word to the inhabitants of this world. They are self appointed individuals making a living off of the covenant peoples of the past and theologically attacking the covenant peoples of the present.
The two main verses they book-end to challenge the doctrines of the Restoration are Isaiah 43:10 and John 1:1. Apologia Church argues against the bible that there is only one God and that there cannot be any other God in existence now or ever. They then point out the fact that Latter-day Saints believe that there is more than one God, thus they then conclude that the doctrines of the Restoration are false and being false cannot save Latter-day Saints.
This argument is so weak and fallacious that it's almost an embarrassment that they would even challenge the notion since they confess belief in the bible. The truth is - members of Apologia Church do not believe the bible. Their very own official declaration of belief concerning the bible states "Scripture is totally true and trustworthy" and then they proceed to change the meaning of bible verses by turning to one of many Greek translations as authority to show that the bible verse such as John 1:1 is incorrect in the bible. Is the bible "totally true and trustworthy" or not? Which proves that the people of Apologia Church do not believe in the bible and what it says, they change the meaning of the bible so that the bible coincides with their false belief system which is founded upon Greek philosophy. Greek philosophy has corrupted the Christian concept of God of which Apologia Church accepts. They then use this corrupted meaning of the bible to attack revealed truth. This shows that members of Apologia Church are in actuality enemies of the Word of God and are in rebellion against Logos.
John 1:1 states "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." There are two Gods mentioned in this verse. One is called God and one is called the Word. Who is God and who is God the Word? God is God the Father and God the Word is Jesus Christ - two Gods. To teach that there isn't two God's mentioned in this verse is illogical and fallacious. The people of Apologia Church teach against the truth of this verse by doing what the apostle Paul taught they would do and that is turning "the truth of God into a lie" (Romans 1:25).
Isaiah 43:10 states "Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me."
Isaiah 43:11 states "I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour."
Who is the savior? The God speaking in these passages is the pre-mortal God Jesus Christ who is the Word of God as John teaches in John 1:1. There is no other savior. Even God the Father is not a savior. Only Jesus Christ is the savior of men.
The nations round about the children of Israel of Isaiah's day believed in and worshiped false gods. The children of Israel were not to be like the nations round about them and were only to worship the eternal God of Israel - the savior (Isaiah 43:11). They were not to go whoring after false gods as some of them had done in the past (Lev. 17:7; Deut. 32:17). They were not to fashion or form any other god in the future. The God of Israel is eternal. Concerning their salvation, there is no other God. Just as the apostle Paul taught to the New testament church "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord (to be in accord with John 1:1 Lord in this passage should be read 'Word' or 'God') Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him" (1 Corinthians 8:6). Paul is teaching the truth that all of us come from God (we in him) and that it is by Jesus Christ that creation was sanctioned (we by him).
When the Lord states in Isaiah 43:10 "before me there was no God formed" he is speaking of the fact that He is the firstborn of God. The term "first" meaning what the term is defined as "being before all others" concerning this creation. Just as the apostle Paul taught "Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature" (Colossians 1:12-15).
The apostle Paul is teaching three important facts. First that there is a God named the Father and that His firstborn son in the spirit realm is Jesus Christ; Second, that Jesus Christ is a God also. Because Paul teaches in the next verse that "by him [Jesus Christ] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible" (Colossians 1:16). Third Paul is teaching that if Christ is the firstborn of God the Father then all the children of men are the offspring of God which came after Jesus Christ's spirit birth. Even Moses and Aaron taught this truth as they both called upon God saying, "O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh" (Numbers 16:22). Paul sheds further light on Isaiah 43:10 teaching that God is not formed in the sense that he does not dwell in temples made with hands and neither is worshiped with men's hands that form and create him. Paul also teaches that God giveth forth life and that all of us are literally the offspring of God. "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshiped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring" (Acts 17:24:28).
